An internal fight going on within the council. One proposed route* that would have taken you the less direct route may now be dropped. But they don't want to drop it entirely.
Close on 100 mature tree's require felling to create the planned route, along with rerouting utility pipes and providing access points from the road to peoples drives. The people that came up with the proposed route didn't realise access had to be given to people's drives. Nor had they done a site visit.
*It'd have removed cyclists from the A629 from the end of the dual carriageway to just below Morrison's.
