Mudguards For A 700x40c.

I have found the Kennedy mini bolt cutters make short work of all m/g stays.

I managed to cut them down with some cable cutters

I've got a decent set of cutters for brake and gear cable but I didn't want to wreck them on the stays.

The grinder and vice did it in seconds.

I've bought the 45mm because the 60mm isn't available at the moment.

If they don't work on the hybrid, they will fit the road bike which doesn't have any guards at the moment.

That's good, as as vickster says they will be too narrow. You need a good 10mm over the size of the tyre, and 15mm is handy.

I've tried them in the wet and they work fine. No spray.

They are a pretty tight fit.

Are you sure that your foot (toe end) doesn't 'foul' the mudguard when making tight turns when cycling ? This could be potentially dangerous ?

There is no interference. It's a fairly tight fitting mudguard with the furthest back section of the mudflap only protruding out an inch from the tyre.

They must be damn close. I would check regularly for any rubbing at the stays.

They are close but the stay bolts are a good 8mm either side of the tyre and I have everything centred up nicely.
