Mudguard under forks falling out

my mudguard for my mtb goes into the hole above the wheel under the underside of the handlebars, but after a couple of rides it keeps coming loose and falling out,

Its a one where you put it in the hole and then screw it in to make the bolt fatter to wedge in the hole if you know what i mean, if not ill post a pic, any ideas of a fix cheers chaps

There cack aint they , i had similar a few years ago ago and ended up cable tieing it round the forks . or maybe put something around the bung to make it a tighter fit ?
