Or do that, never actually seent the purpose of having mudguards. For all the expense and hassle I would rather buy a decent set of waterproofs.

Vital if you are descending a mountain in heavy rain! Without 'guards you can't see where you are going due to wheel spray. At least that's my theory as to why I whizzed passed so many other cyclists who were walking down e.g. the Tourmalet..

Quite right, but if you do use the wrong strength, not just for this, there is a fluid sold by the makers which softens the stuff to let you undo things - but it's expensive, of course.
Thanks Davidc, I never knew that.

Here for rides.
I don't understand how people have problems with mudguards. I've had them on all my bikes for years and I've never had any problems fitting them or having them work loose.

in dell's defence I think the problems he has had, and I've seen some of them, have been with other people's mudguards on other people's bikes fitted by other people's lbs's

I've found cheaper chromoplastics don't like being transported on bikes lying down in the boot of a car. but i fixed the mounts with zip ties several 1000km ago and though they did make dell blanch they have never caused a problem.

I've just searched for the removal solvent, to put a link here, and it seems to have gone the way of lots of useful things - disappeared.

Apologies - should have checked first as its a good 15 years since I bought any.
