Fitted SKS bluemels tonight and the top bracket won't work on my bike due to the stay hole facing down and not horizontal. I thought of maybe just drilling a hole through mudguard and nut/bolt it but is it really necessary ?
The chain stay clip did not span the spar so it was tapped M4 and a just put an M4 cap head and nut through that. Seems to hold ok.
Other than that I bent the stays around the calliper and temporary fixed until I order a longer bolt and a suitable stand off from eBay.
Just that top mount that's bugging me

Looks like it's time for a cable tie!

I had exactly the same problem. I just used a few cable ties for the vertical hole. What stand off did you order.

Drilling the mudguard and bolting upwards is what the boss is meant for.
A bolt with either a low hex head or a button head with a 3mm allen socket takes least space, but you get most clearance by using 2 cable ties through 2 pairs of holes either side of the mudguard centre, like this :-

(this is actually at the fork crown)
A single central cable tie uses space where the tyre is closest to the mudguard.
