Being a total newbie to commuter cycling, I decided to give my bike a clean and check over last weekend. Trying to put my mudguard back on I managed to split the plastic adapter which sits at the end of the mudguard spoke to connect to the bike frame. And can I find a replacement part...can I hell!
The bike is a Trek T10 2010 Hybrid. The manual which came with the bike gives no indication of mudguard spec/manufacturer and I would like to get this sorted asap as I miss being on the bike to work

I have found these http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=36788 which are very similar but not the same.

Thanks in advance for your help. If you could put me in touch with a supplier of the clip for the Trek T10, I will be forever in your debt  I am really trying to avoid spending money on replacement guards, and really need to guard on the bike to save me getting caped in mud on the journey to work.

Cheers,

Anil.

Here for rides.
Not sure what type of mudguards the Trek uses, but Edinburgh Bicycle sell this (I had a similar problem with my mudguards!).

That is what they fit on their own brand bikes. Somewhat pointlessly in my experience because the clip that holds the stay onto the guard is the weak link in the mudguards they fit. The teeny pinch screws pull off the 'guard, and stay and guard are left flapping in the breeze. Mine were drilled and zip tied in place but are now being replaced by some tortecs.

Turns out they are out of stock (after clearly stating in stock on their website)
Any other suggestions as to where I can source?
Cheers,
Anil.

My mudguards came with similar plastic clips, which covered the bend in the mudguard stays: If yours are the same they serve no purpose - simply pass the bolt through the bend in the stay (which is much the stronger means of fixing).

get rid of them. If the person behind you doesn't want the spray, they can drop back a bit..........

Thank you for the suggestions. I have tried to get rid of the clips completely, and just screw the stays straight to the forks. Unfortunately the stays are not long enough and cause the guard to rub against the tire.
The SKS seem to be similar, are they a better alternative to the ones shown on Edinburgh bicycle?
Thanks again for your help.

Why not wheel it into a local bike shop, they will advise what they would do and sell you the bits or bolt them on as appropriate.
