I can't understand why I don't see these? When I ride my bike in the wet my back gets wet/dirty... so I fitted a guard.
Does the increased weight mean so much that it would be incomprehensible to add tittle tattle, or have I entirely missed the point of how you keep your bottoms and backs dry without them?
Thanks

As long as I breathe, I attack.

Most clubs ask you to have mudgaurds in the winter months , my commuter has them on all year round .I know some bikes have tight clearances but you can normally get clip on ones that will fit.

Also some frames won't take guards very-well especially with wider tyres.

You can get those ass-saver mini guards that fit under the saddle,of course you could just H.T.F.U:whistle:^_^

Mudguards on my bikes.. Thats not very light and aero... Tbh the way i see it is if its raining your going to get wet anyway so whats the point, and if its just damp roads other riders/ traffic will wet you anyway.

A. The rain is a lot cleaner than the road spray.

B. They stop you getting wet when it's stopped raining but the road is still wet

C. No diahorrea stripe up your arse

The older I get, the faster I used to be ...
If wet I use them - so that I don't get any wetter than necessary, and, importantly, so that the people I'm riding with don't get spattered with water and worse. Cafes don't appreciate riders with mud all over their arse and lower back leaving the furniture filthy either. If dry I ride a bike without. Most of our club riders have a sensible approach and use guards when required, and those that turn up for a winter ride without guards are certainly 'encouraged' to get them fitted.

We also encourage fitting mud flaps to guards too, as most of the guards you buy aren't long enough to protect people behind. It's become quite a competitive activity, with people being very creative in the design and fitting!

Sod aero and weight, having guards on your bike cuts out a whole pile of crap landing on you, your friends and your bike. You can get them for 'racers', SKS raceblade and cruds to name but two.

Winter bike has crudguards but when I buy a new commuter/winter bike it will take proper guards. trust me you will regret it if given the choice. My summer steed/dry weather bike no guards at all apart from the ass saver ( homemade ) .

The filthy water sticking to your back is 15% (approx) heavier than a light pair of guards on a dry ride with wet roads and that's a fact :okay:
