I bought 5L of the pink stuff from Halfords on a friend's recommendation. It's utter shite.

I use the Muc off Spray chain cleaner and would recommend this. I even spray it into my chain cleaning gadget when doing a full clean. Once left for a couple of mins I then clean with warm soapy water to give the chain a further clean and rinse with the hose. Then spray with water repellent and Lube up, leave again for a few mins and then wipe off the excess. Sounds like a bit of a drag but when done whilst cleaning the bike it takes no time really.

I would not use anything else.

Hi:smile: I think the pink stuff is more of a bike cleaner? not for de greaseing chains the yellow drive chain cleaner said to be good but do it wash off well? Im looking for a product that can clean chain then quick wash off with cold water then wait few minutes then lube

Just be careful any chain cleaner will need to be well washed off before you lube as any residue will result in the lube not covering the links properly. Warm soapy water is best for this.

Not tried a dry de greaser would be interested on the results or anyone elses experience with this. But I will keep with the Muc off anyway.
I must say a clean chain and sprockets gives the bike a real good feel factor when you get on it.

I have used muc off dry degreaser, it does what it says on the can. I have found one can will do two cleans as it does use a lot to get the chain clean. having said that it does a good job, evaporates fast and leaves the chain ready for re-lubing within a couple of minutes.

True, but their blurb for the pink bike cleaner claims it has "incredible cleaning power" which I've found to be untrue. I'd be sceptical of their claims for any of their other cleaners.

Last time I cleaned a chain I took it off (quick link) and used the plastic bottle and soapy water method warm water with washing up liquid works wonders. Great for rinsing too. Oasis bottles work well with the wider neck.

Muc Off's Caravan Cleaner is the same stuff in different packaging and often sold cheaper
I use the Poundland "No More Dirty Bike". It's not fantastic but it's convenient more as a kind of pink coloured water spray, in the absence of having a hosepipe

£11 for 5 litres you can hardly grumble. I use it on the MTB and it works a treat
