MTB SPDs and MTB shoes on a road bike

I have several pairs of proper road shoes and several SPD inc sandals. I would happily do an Ironman in the SPDs (probably not the sandals though) and all the crap about power transfer is exactly that

I now have both, I don't get off the bike as much when using the SPD SL, but maybe that's a good thing, and the plastic cleats wear quickly when walking on hard surfaces.

But, I might go back to toe straps and cleats to match my old bike/saddle.^_^

Yep, concur with all the points above. You only have to watch someone trying to walk in non-SPD cleats to know they don't make sense if you don't have a team car following you.

I don't find it much different TBH. OK I wouldn't do my weekly shop in SPD-SL's, but all the talk of penguin walking is largely unfounded..

I use crank bros or spd on my road bikes. Egg beaters and flats for MTB's.
My mates with road shoes have to carry these plastic covers around with them so they can walk off the bike. Rollocks to that!!
