What, even a mucky nutz hipster front guard and downtube guard with heli tape, bubble wrap and cotton wool to protect it

Now that would look weird
In 24 years of MTB'ing ,I have never used one in any conditions.

Part of MTB'ing is all about getting muddy where mud is.
IMO.
Julian Absalon and Nino Schurter (et al)don't feel the need for one.Why should amateurs?
Just my tuppence worth :becool:

they probably have someone to clean the bike down afterwards whilst they relax and once it's trashed the sponsor give them a top of the range bike free with a team to care for it :laugh:I'm looking at a front guard and downtube to offer a bit of protection to forks and frame work. 1 ride=1 huge chip. So my thinking was a layer of helitape on downtube and a gutt fender.

Don't worry I got a green one to match. They only used to do black, I got excited (sadly) when they started doing coloured guards:blush:

I think I've asked this before but do the butt fenders work? my bike has curiously shaped rear stays with a brake line down the outside which is making getting a guard to fit, awkward.

Looking at the one I got for wife today I would say it's probably ideal when she is out on canal or cycle path ways with my 5 year old and it's wet or raining but in a sting wind or gale it may just blow away. Not to say a few strategic tie wraps wouldn't sort that out though and tucks under seat out of way. It's a 'caught in the rain' temp thing not a full blown rigid guard.
