any good recommendations? I have years ago had a crud catcher that mounted on the down tube which I like because it protects the frame somewhat too. No experience of fork mounted guards but interested in others experience with these and recommended brands.
As suggested in another thread I'm going to helitape vulnerable areas after a big cheap on first ride but want to prep bike for winter riding so need front & rear guards too
Thanks
Paul

If I need a rear guard I use a mud hugger but it's a more permanent guard (cable ties) than a clip on jobbie. It does work like a proper guard though. I've gone past caring about being cool.

The front nutz is good in xl, stops fling in the eyes and protects the stanchions and headset.

Just looked at their website and thinking of ordering the face fender xl and the gutt fender standard. Help protect downtube as well I reckon. Obviously I want to try stay reasonably cool so going for orange to match the bike. All the gear with f*** all idea

you won't go far wrong with them.

there are other brands but they're all the same. I'm not a mudguard lover but the xl fender is always on.

I actually enjoy getting muddy unless it's mixed with shitty bits

Zefal also do a rear which attaches to the stays if a mudhugger won't fit, it won't on mine. Don't get one which goes on the seatpost as it means you can't drop the seatpost on steeper trails, which you'll really want to do.

I was playing with the pneumatic dropper post today on descents in preparation for real MTB routes and before I get a whack in my nutts
