I have a Cateye rear light bracket which fits to my seatpost with a cable tie like fitting.

Is there any way of undoing this so I can move it it to a different bike?

Is there a little plastic flappy bit that engages with the grooves on the strap? If so, disengage it from the grooves using a screwdriver blade or similar and slide the strap out.

Any way sorry about the rant, lets find out if DannyG has stabbed himself in the hand with a screwdriver yet...........................

Oi, DannyG, you got that bracket off yet?

No!

A normal size screwdriver won't fit in the slot where the strap goes, and have also tried the small blade on my Swiss Army knife to no avail.

I have a small screwdriver somewhere that might do the trick, but can't find it at the moment.

Is it like this?-

If it is, the clip is on the inside, so the only way to undo it is via the screw.

Then you can pull the clip, if you want to fit it to a bigger diameter.

It is sort of like the one pictured, but without the screw fitting - so I need some way of unclipping it while it is still attached to the seat post.

Try taking the seatpost out and sliding it off. You'll get to the clip then.
Why didn't I think of that ;)

Will try it after work - though the bracket is fixed on pretty tight.

Loosen the screw that holds the bracket together then do that, that's what I do.
Mine, doesn't have a screw - it just a curved bit of plastic with a cable tie like fastening.

Guess that wont work then .
All of my Cateye brackets have a screw at one side which holds the mounting plate (or whatever its called) and one of those cable tie like fastenings on the other side.
If you can get it off it makes it a lot easier.
