Some of you know how bad I struggle with motivating myself to get out on the bike ... once i'm out I am fine, but i have now found the motivation, even if it is abit odd.

Anyone get the Sun paper? Anyways at the back there was a nike advertisement with Cav on it, saying "The world's fastest sprinter doesn't use spikes, Nike just do it." With a big grey picture of him in orange glasses.

I bluetacked it to my shelves, and now it strangely has motivated me ... I'm dying to get out on the bike tomorrow, and everytime I look at the picture it just makes me want to go out on it.

Strange I am! ;)

But anyways that was the point of the post, and just a general wonderment if any of you guys have any other ideas of motivation.

I am usually keen - when it is not raining!

Not been out much lately.

I find if I keep going to watch the regionals and watch a few vid's I have in my favourites on you tube helps...

Also looking in the mirror and seeing my spare tyre is a great motivator!!

Nice one.

If you get a minute can you find mine for me? I've not been out for weeks (although still a gym monkey).

Retirement is hell! I can go out nearly every day and do! I do give myself two days a week off the trikes and rarely go out if it's raining. I don't mind getting wet on the way home but don't like to go out into the wet.

As much as I'm glad that an ad like that get s published (with a British cyclist!), I still wish Nike would just stop pouring all their sweatshop cost savings into ludicrous levels of sponsorship. I'd love to see a professional athlete take an ethical stand on this.

Oh and congratulations on the GCSE's, forget about A-Levels and all that, GCSE's are the most important exams you will ever take IMO. At 21, it was my GCSE results that got me in to Uni more than the A-levels, I had friends who had to retake maths/English/Science GCSEs for some courses regardless of their A levels and if you don't continue in education they will fulfil most requirements for entry into apprenticeships or just about any worthwhile job - nobody is interested in the wasters who couldn't even scrape a few C grades. With good results across a range of subjects they demonstrate a fairly rounded individual.
Right, now go have a great couple of weeks over-indulging in whatever your poison may be before your next port-of-call in life
