They were in my neck of the woods, they outlived the manchester scene and became part of the indie scene

Bland shite with a simpering twunt for a lead singer, yet still people persisted in bigging them up

T Rex. I never could understand why everyone thought they were so great.
The riffs, dear boy, and more to the point, the feel that Bolan imparted to them.....the one in Jeepster is worth a million dollars on its own.

Shame about all the pointless and vain glam-crap associations, though.

Any "act" that had to be put together by a television "competition" programme, then by a crooked public vote, then "mentored" by someone who's never had a hit in years. They have to be the most overated? Surely? ;)

Take Stiff Little Fingers. I had a classmate who used to rave about them. Couldn't see it meself, I just wanted to say 'You're a middle class punk from Canvey Island; what do you have in common with SLF?'

Well, being able to 'see it' has got nothing to do with having anything in common with the bloody band. It's about the quality of the music. And a lot of SLF was music of the highest calibre.

Bob Marley was generally shite too come to think of it, along with most other reggae types. Ska's OK though.

Come off it, Andy. Many reggae rhythms are amongst the most listenable music types around.

I never thought the songs were anything special to be honest. And Bolan thought he was much better than he actually was ...
