 Can't see anything in the literature but it seems to be charged up now and I plugged it in at about 3.00pm.
Thanks.... and sorry for the poor pun LOL!

Have decided to order the Moon 500 myself now, will be my main light with the Hopes becoming backup/be seen lights.
Just wondering if you have tried it mounted on a helmet?
Might try that as it would give me a decent directional light, tried the Hopes once but it was too heavy.

No, actually I haven't – it does come with the helmet mount though, so it's certainly an option worth investigating!

FWIW I've taken to pointing the Moon at the road about 2m in front of the front wheel – it works great, and avoids as much as possible dazzling oncoming traffic/cyclists/pedestrians/dogs etc.... I had however been considering a more tightly focused torch beam as an additional helmet light, which would help with long-distance illumination on the pitch-black cycle path sections of my commute, but since I'm just back in the saddle this week and the days are starting to lengthen again, I'll look into it later on in the year

Cheers.
Mine is being delivered tomorrow, so will get to try it out on Sunday nights commute.
Have recently gained access to a usb point at work, so the fact this can be recharged that way was another plus, I just need to either get a spare mount for the other bike, or change it between bikes but the 'quick release' isn't really all that quick is it?

Actually, the quick release is super quick - you fit the bracket to the handlebars, then slide the light itself onto the bracket and it fixes with a click! USB charging is great, and takes about 3 hours

Taking this totally off at a tangent - I hope you don't mind!

I've just made an impulse buy of a Shimano hub dynamo for £23 in the Rose Bikes sale.

Now obviously I still have some way to go - I've got to get it built into a wheel and then I have to get a lighting system to go with it (any suggestions?) but I reckon I'm going to get lights with very limited need for maintenance, and no need for batteries, for not much more than you are talking about for one light.

There is a snag though - a little gremlin in the back of my mind is tempting me down a route which may end up with building a touring bike.

Suggestions would be a B&M Cyo, not the R version, fabulous light and really, really bright with a dynamo. I've also paired it us with a seculite on the rear. Order from bike24 or rose bike to avoid silly UK prices.

PS with a reflector mount from SJS you can fit the rear to the seat-post for a more road bike friendly setup

I'm tempted by this one and from the reviews I've read, people who use one are rather impressed with it.
Sounds like it's a very user friendly light Norman, some good features and technology.
Not very bright though, I wanted something with a bit more oomph for the odd bit of unlit sections on my off road route.
Didn't want one of the cheap HK imports though.

The Moon arrived today, have been playing with it in the kitchen, it is much brighter than the Hopes.
Have put the mount on the helmet, and the other mount on the bike, not sure which I'll use yet, will use next weeks night shifts to try out the set-up.
The 380 lumen fast flash is a bit

I've had the Moon for a while now and have to say it's a great light which I've used throughout my winter commute home. I always use it at full power pointed a couple of meters ahead of the wheel and has sufficient flood to light the bushes along the path and pick up reflectors and signs some way ahead. The usb charging is extremely useful as get into work and charge it ready for my commute home as the battery on full power is about 45 mins so probably would just make 2 return journeys, however I've dropped it to the 2nd setting a couple of times when I forgot to charge it and it's also been sufficient. Highly recommended

Good to hear Alexvs, my commute is approx 45 minutes each way so might just get there and back on full power, have managed to fettle the set up and now have the 2 Hopes and the Moon on the bars, bit tricky as it has cross-top brake levers too
1st commute later tonight
