Lovely story coco69.

My Grandad asked whether you would sell him another bike soon as he made a big profit flogging the last one although has since spent all of the proceeds on alcohol and women...

Good to see he didn't waste any of it then :-)

Listed and sold one of my bikes on ebay and through not putting a reserve on it i got quite a bit less for it.

As the winning bidder got a serious bargain he was onto me straight away wanting travel arrangements as he was coming by train. As he was only 20 miles away i bit my lip and delivered it for him.

Anyway

A cycle enthusiast was an understament..guy in his 70s who cycles everywhere and just wanted a ' special' bike to go out with his elderly friends on a weekend....a lovely bloke with a wealth of knowledge and stories....it was probably one of the best sales ive ever had.

Sounds like you know a thing or two about the big war now.

I had a number of bikes but my wife is on a "minimalist" drive and I had to prune them. I could have sold them but there are so many here without one I thought I should give them away.

My eighties Gary Fisher MTB went to the owner of my local cycle repair shop, amazingly he didn't own a bike. My vintage Bianchi went to someone that had helped us. The Marin hybrid went went to a guy who cleans for us and was complaining his Chinese clunker was getting past it and vintage Dawes went to someone who had done all the tiling in the house. They were all very grateful. I've also promised to buy one for a boy around the corner if he attended school as his mother hadn't been making him attend. Yes it's true, money isn't everything.
