Milk bikes?

I'm interested in the Milk Bike RDA as a bullet proof commuter bike because of the belt drive, Alfine hub and disc brakes. I have tried phoning them but they don't pick up and I've tried emailing them but they haven't replied. Does anyone have any experience of them? Mine so far is putting me off buying from them.

I really like the spec of that bike as well, but I haven't yet got to the stage of trying to contact the manufacturer. It's dissapointing that they haven't been responding to you- have you heard from them since your last post?

The RDA looks absolutely like my ideal commuter- I was contemplating the Trek Soho DLX, but the Alfine Hub and dynamo lighting on the Milk are very tempting. The only problem is that it's quite a bit more expensive, but I guess you get what you pay for....

Saw them in the flesh last year at the Bespoked Bristol show. They were nice and spent a reasonable length of time chatting to them. I'm hoping they will be back at the show this year in March.

They're quite new, are they not? Sure I saw an article in CA in the Autumn...
If you can't contact them, though, that's a worry.

Belt drive needs to be done very well to work, with good deep teeth and tight enough to keep in place

On the Stridas I could on a steep hill "skip" the teeth if I put too much weight on the pedals

I've just realised- because I tried to register again- that I signed up to their email newsletter several months ago. I'm pretty sure that I haven't received anything since I did so. There's no doubt that they make very good bikes but it seems that their customer relations/PR leave a little to be desired.

I follow them on Facebook which has been quiet for ages but tonight they posted a bike with studded tyres about to head off to Canada.

I did have an email exchange with them but its basically a one man band making them in his spare time from the day job. I would have got one except for the fact that a) he couldn't do Cyclescheme which made it much more expensive and b) he is the only source of belts for the belt drive (although you could convert it to chain drive if you needed).
