Well done, I'm aiming to get that 50 km done too, did my furthest ride to date on sunday at 27.65 miles, can't believe that 18 months ago I thought I'd done well upping the distance from 5 to 7 miles.

I know, it's such an amazing feeling isn't it? ^_^

Yes definitely I don't tend to bother, but I thought my legs were going to cramp up, perhaps it's a sign it's coffee o'clock :giggle:

I jumped straight into a 50km the other day on a mountain bike with a single set of gears :okay:
Wasn't as difficult as I thought it would be, although I did take rest breaks for water, toilet and lunch.

Longest single trip yet yesterday. 30 miles (exactly 30 as well, oddly!) with only a one minute nose-blow stop. I wanted to keep above 10mph to do it in 2.5 hrs max. Managed 2hrs 20mins. Speed slowed dramatically for the last four miles which were......er.......undulating (live in the Fens so I can't claim hilly!) and my legs were just knackered.

I got 3/4 mile from home and the Garmin told me to turn round and go back....I swore at it

Metric half century next, only another 3 miles so should be do-able...??^_^

And I had a lovely warm head what a difference a skull cap makes!

Anyway, just wanted to share cos I'm a little bit chuffed :bicycle:
Whaaattttt??? Stopping to blow your nose?? That is what that little towelling section on the back of your cycling mitts/gloves is for!

Great effort on those longer distances! With the decent weather we've been having lately I've sub-consciously just ridden further and further during my weekend rides. I'm hoping to ride the 123km from Southampton (I live on the Isle of Wight) to Oxford to see my daughter at university soon, so I suppose all these extra Km's on the bike are all good training!

Ewww! I use that towelling to dry rain off my goggles.
Hahaha! The little towelling sections have always been known, between my cycling mates, affectionately as .................snot wipes! Good to know that other folk seem to have ingenious uses for them though!

Well last night I had a nice surprise, I downloaded my Garmin on to strava last night, it seems that not only was it my furthest ride, I had unwittingly ridden up a cat 2 & 3 climb, slowly, but I went up it, I'm well chuffed! ^_^
