I bought the Merlin mtb frame in their frame sale a couple of years ago and as it wasn't expensive (and came with BB & seat post) I didn't have huge expectations as I was just looking for a much shorter frame to swop existing components onto. But I've been very pleased. Besides a bit of moderate off-road where it feels stiff and precise, it's a good hack bike with slicks on for the winter and even copes with towing a trailer with some pretty wobbly loads. When I get around to getting a dedicated mtb I'll definitely be revisiting Merlin.
