Merino wool clothing for cycling.

I normally wear standard cycling clothing everyday for the commute to work. However, you can't wear the clothing more that once due to the pong.

I'm thinking of doing some touring and will require to wear my clothing more than once.

I am considering getting some clothing with a high content of merino wool. Less of a pong factor.

I've been having a search and most so called cycling merino wool tops have merino wool as the lowest content of the other fibres used in the garment.

High content merino wool tops seem tone for general use. Which is ok but I'm concerned about the cycling position on a bike. Cycling tops are a bit longer to cover your lower back when on the bike.

So, does anyone know of any high content merino wool tops that will be ideal for cycling?

Red would also be good, but can't have everything.

Thanks

Bamboo has similar properties too, and my skin prefers it.

I use a Rohan one. Being a ladies one it is a little short but I always have something longer over the top, so no major issue and I ride quite upright

Really comfortable, no itch, no pong

Icebreaker also good for merino, try and buy at a snow and rock or similar

Devold have tops that are 100% merino. Sportpursuit have their stuff fairly regularly at reasonable prices.

As well as the other outdoor shops mentioned above also try Go Outdoors

+1 for icebreaker. They are pure merino, from NZ. I use them for skiing but have found myself wearing them all year round for all sort of things because they are so comfy and versatile. They do short-sleeved tee-shirts and polo shirts too, in nice colours. I too am a woman who cycles fairly upright but find the length good - don't know what then mens' ones are like.

They are not cheap but wear extremely well. I find it best to hand them out overnight, outdoors is best but indoors is ok.

I also have a proper, very fine, merino cycle top from Bontrager which is excellent in summer.

Icebreaker for me. I have an LS Oasis base layer and an SS Everyday base layer too. Will definitely look to add to the collection when we move back to colder times of the year, nothing is quite like merino.

The older I get, the faster I used to be ...
I have a 100% merino jersey from Planet x - cycling cut, 3 rear pockets. It is brilliant - just wish they still sold them!

Synthetic base layers are better as their wicking properties are far superior. But merino has it's place just not in highly aerobic energetic activities that produce a lot of sweat.
