Anyone on here been 'converted'?

I picked up a merino base layer and am absolutely chuffed to bits with it, to the extent that I don't think I'll bother getting another synthetic item of clothing for the top half again!

Anyone else a died in the wool (couldn't resist) merino fan? Any down sides that I should know about?

Me. Love the stuff. However, in my opinion, it doesn't really work other than as a base layer on the bike. Not unless it has some form of wind proof coating, like what them guys at Ground Effect do.

I find it can be a bit itchy next to my skin as a base layer but I absolutely love my howies merino zip up jersey thing that I got in the summer - its worn day in and out. Thanks for who ever tipped me off when it was in the sale. It has been one of my best buys this year.

Nick - as far as I know it's direct mail order only. Don't worry though, service is top notch and they're quite happy to answer any queries with sizing and so on. Unfortunately, I didn't get any merino on my order ;)

Almost all of my winter/autumn tops are Ground Effect. Absolutely fantastic kit and their customer service is very good. Delivery from NZ is also pretty fast.

It certainly is! My order of two jerseys was made on a Saturday in February and it arrived the following Wednesday!

Is there annoying Customs/Royal Mail handling charge?

Didn't cost me any extra in postage.
