Russia has demanded that all champagne imported from France should be labelled 'Sparkling wine', while the locally produced Russian 'champagne' can call itself champagneski or whatever it is.
The French are apoplectic as you can imagine. All rather amusing. I wonder how this will be resolved?

How much does a bottle of French-made champagne cost in Russia? I suspect that the people who can afford to buy it probably know if it's the real deal even if it's labelled "Plonk".

BTW, the only bottle of Russian champagne that I sampled tasted utterly vile. Maybe I was unlucky.

I think it`s quite funny really. EU laws can`t protect them so they will have to bite the bullet. What are they going to do? Stop buying Russian....
