My wife can't believe the group i cycle with stop off for coffees in our lycra gear, my middle son thinks we are all rather sad. I used to play ice hockey and wear suspenders, but that's another story. Anyone else get this stick.

No, my wife has now got used to me going to diy shops etc with clothes covered in paint etc that any abuse or attempts to make me change stopped years ago.

However my 10 year old daughter would not stand next to me when I turned up at school pick up time in full cycle gear

I've started young, so I've got over the fashion problem very quickly. I think it looks 'cool' and shows you're properly into it.

If you are going to participate (in any sport) seriously, then you need to be clothed accordingly. However, I only wear the lycra when I'm cycling. If I had to go somewhere, or do something else (and it wasn't an emergency) I would change clothes before doing so. You can (just about) get away with wearing footbal shirts out shopping, or on a weekend, but I wouldn't dream of wearing one of my Jerseys down town shopping (naff)

My wife thinks I look quite good in my kit (I think she does) she has never said otherwise, but she hates me shaving my legs.

My wife used to laugh, but she's used to it now.

I never really got into cycling when i lived with my folks, so they didn't get to see me in lycra much. I turned up in tights and jersey a few weeks ago, now I am called 'Froggy'... think legs...

Even work have got used to it now, I used to wear baggy shorts over my cycling shorts to save the blushes of the girls I work with. but they're alright with it... mind you, if they wore lycra too, that would e better... just to make things even...

I can't stop my partner from swooning when I'm walking around in my longs.

Fortunately the kids aren't old enough to be embarassed by it.

I'm a convert, anyone in full kit gets a second look from me, fast men whizzing past me may hear my lusty utterences. now Elvis has his new club jersey I see him in a fresh light, might be just me though.

Having found my rekindled cycling motivation, my son asked me in a worried tone, " your not going to wear tight stuff are you dad? " ;)

I don't wear lycra or tights. Not because I have something against them but I don't like feeling that 'exposed' nor do I like drawing attention to myself due to my clothing, very much a lost in the crowd type of person. I don't tend to like being looked at whether it is mickey taking or admiring. I don't even wear a checked shirt when I am lumberjacking!

All my clothes tend to be plain and bland with no logos or markings, except when I wear my fluorescent yellow fleece with reflective strips. That's when I want to be seen so I don't get bumped by dozy people not paying attention.
