A statue to remember the lost Fisherman of the Town of Lowestoft, Suffolk:

I recall when I was in Penzance someone told me three fishermen were killed or maimed each week on British fishing boats.

Wow !! 😳 At the height of the fishing industry in the U.K. perhaps. With the scaling down / less small privately owned boats now you’d hope that statistic has lowered dramatically.

My home town Lowestoft used to have a huge fishing fleet and a very large market that dealers the area over flocked to every Morning. And Gt Yarmouth next door was the hub of the U.K. Herring industry. Both are now pretty much absolutely dead in terms of anything to do with fishing per-se…..

Thank you. It was a freebie frame and the rear triangle was bent so I straightened it and spread it for a modern hub and I've toured a lot on it off and on over the years. Well used, abused and a bit cosmetically challenged.
