Aside from being a daft thing to do, WTF did she think the Dibble would do?

Deliberate, clear cut time wasters like that should have some of their time wasted...in front of a Magistrate.

Yes, I was wondering what the nature of her complaint could have been.

It's a shame this is not America, because if it were we'd be entitled to hear the tape of the three nines call.

An appropriate punishment would be time spent at the branch serving customers equally as obnoxious as herself.

Unfortunately, it were and she had dialled 999, the tape wouldn't have been available! 911 OTOH... :okay:

As for when to dial 999, originally the public were advised only to use it in ongoing emergency if "for instance, the man in the flat next to yours is murdering his wife or you have seen a heavily masked cat burglar peering round the stack pipe of the local bank building." Missing a McMuffin wouldn't quite qualify!

It sounds so ridiculous that one can't help wondering if the woman in question was... just too stupid to realise that she was being stupid? As in -mentally incapable of seeing the problem. If so, let's cut her some slack. If she is just a self-entitled fool then yes - LOCK HER UP!

On that subject... Is it worth phoning the police to report very poor driving (especially in Covid times)? Things like drivers overtaking cyclists at high speed and at less than one metre separation. Activities that could have resulted in tragedy, but didn't.

I wouldn't expect the police to contact every driver reported like that, every time, but it would be nice to think that the information would be taken seriously and logged somewhere so the driver could be warned after (say) 3 such reports, or maybe given in evidence if there subsequently were to be a tragic RTA.
I wouldn't expect the police to contact the driver at all, unless they were intending to progress a prosecution. Indeed, may farces, inlcuding my old mob (the second lot), won't do so.

No one takes the blindest bit of notice of a telling off, so it's a waste of a valuable resource - the only person it benefits is the person reporting, who feels like they succeeded in something, when in reality they achieved zero.

And as for being of benefit in a subsequent prosecution, I'm afraid that dog doesn't bark in Court. If you've not been convicted of something it cant be used as evidence of bad character for determining guilt - just because you allegedly glassed someone in the face on Monday doesn't make you guilty of a murder of someone else on Tuesday. However, if you're convicted if a glassing on a Monday they the prosecution are entitled to use that in Court to demonstrate your propensity towards violent behaviour when prosecuting you for Tuesday's murder. In fact, defence counsel hate it and it isn't used often enough.

Pretty much what I thought... TBH - the worst culprits overtake and disappear so quickly that I wouldn't be able to identify them anyway. I suppose that leads on to the question of video evidence, and the police not being interested in that either, unless it is retrieved from a dead cyclist!

I've just had a pizza delivered that tastes like it has meat on it. As a committed vegetarian  can't i at least phone 101?
Hmm...

To complete a perfect work experience, I was so tired [during a 40+ hour shift!] that I forgot I was vegetarian and ate somebody else's late night pepperoni pizza... It was only when he complained of being stuck with a 'poxy' vegetarian pizza that I remembered!
That was the last time I ate any meat - 1988.

Local force now says they"ll accept video evidence.
