Homemade is best, but it needs a steady hand with the olive oil! It works more often than not but sometimes it ends up a mess.

30 second mayo for the win. 1 cup light oil (vegetable/avocado/sunflower) of choice, 1 egg, pinch of salt, good squeeze of lemon juice & large teaspoon of dijon mustard all into a jar. Blitz with a stick blender for 20-30 seconds until emulsified, hey presto. Good for at least a couple of weeks if kept in the fridge. Better than any store bought mayo & very cheap to make.

Can’t go wrong bit a load of chopped garlic in it. Makes a lovely dip.

I just use a stick blender and forget all that oil dribbling nonsense.

I enjoy mayo and the Aldi one is imo quite good.
I am trying Aldi lemon and black pepper which is very nice. It won't replace standard mayo but is a nice alternative.
I am just tucking into a butty of garlic n herb sausage with this mayo, it is a real tasty change.

I think the Aldi lemon and black pepper is my favourite by far. Don't really like Helmans' jelly like texture.

Grapeseed oil is good too.

We don’t eat Mayonnaise since my Wife did a health and safety at work course and was told Mayonnaise being made with Eggs it could cause a serious illness. Since then most bought sandwiches contain Mayonnaise so we search for non Mayo sandwiches when we are out and need to eat.

That would possibly be salmonella, but egg laying hens are generally vaccinated against it, and eggs used to produce mayonnaise industrially will be pasteurised first. The chances of catching salmonella from mayonnaise bought in the supermarket are extremely low.

She was an Egg packer at an egg production complex she keeps well clear of eggs now.
