Mars 4.0 lights - any good?

Right - it arrived today, first impressions are good (after blinding myself to test just how bright it was compared to my old one!). It has a strong, heavy feel to it, and the diamond-shaped modelling at the back sort of reminds me of Kryptonian designs (i.e. Superman type stuff)

The only let down I feel at the moment, is the locking mechanism, it's just like my Cateye Velo 8, where the slightest knock can see it flying off. Is this anyone else's experience, or did you find a way of fixing it?

Not much Help really  but I've never had a problem with the bracket itself. However, I often clip it on the back of my saddlebag; though on my old one, one of the teeth broke and I thought about sending it off to Blackburn to try out their lifetime warranty but I forgot  A while later I went down a steep road where I often top out 35-36mph but there's a flat section and lights at the bottom; for the first time ever they were green! so my speed was still high and I shot round to the left; that was enough force to send the light flying (right under the wheels of cars  it was too busy to see if it survived or not). I like the light though, so I bought a replacement and it tends be used in the bracket on my hybrid rather than clipped on to a loop on my road bike and its never had a problem since; I doubt it gets exposed to the same forces though!

Hmmm - I don't find that a problem.

The clip is quite easy but I've never had the feeling it would pop out unexpectedly.

I like my mars 4, but it's sometimes a bit funny and needs slapping. I think the batteries might move around; but they might just be running out as they've not been changed since I bought it. I'm bought some fresh ones today - if that doesn't sort it I'll be sending it back to wiggle for another one.

I think it's a fantastic light, although I'd want to use it with another light (always best to have 2+ anyway!)

Thanks for the comments thomas. Don't forget Blackburn do a lifetime warranty on it if you have any problems. Obviously doesn't cover the batteries though :-)

I agree with the sentiments about using it with another light, its massively bright but very directional. I'm going to make a video next week to compare it to the one I had before. The difference is astounding

Ouch! Did Blackburn give you a new one or try to wiggle out of it?

Incidentally - I'm looking to add a second light like this but with a wide coverage angle - are the RSP Astrum's like that or are both LED's pointing the same way? Looking at the pictures of them I can't quite tell?

Hmm, thanks for the link, according to his report both face exactly rearwards, save for the different lenses on each.

If only they faced outward by twenty or so degrees.
