It may have referred to someone else, but think I read a while ago that while planning the trip he asked for assistance with the purchase of the bike from the manufacturer and was refused hence he was reluctant to give them any free publicity!!!

Blonde referred earlier about the dangers of travelling in Iran / Afganistan as a lone woman. I recently read Ann Mustoe's "A bike ride" - interestingly she said that as a middle aged woman cycling alone in Muslim countries she was looked after very well by people she met along the way, often invited to stay in peoples houses.

Don't forget, he had his camera stolen, perhaps there was footage in there that would have helped in padding the show out a bit.
