been out on a short ride with my winter marathon spikes tyres. they have a high frequency vibration when going above 5 or 6 mile an hour. anyone else's do this?

Never used them TBH, but I suspect they won't when the spikes have some snow and ice to bite into rather than rattling across the tarmac

Not had that problem with them, but they do make a nice crunching noise - peds will hear you. Are you sure you've got them seated properly?

If they are new you do need to do a few miles on roads to bed the studs in and take it easy with them whilst doing it.

Put mine on today Shaun, will be testing them tomorrow over 20 miles or so, will let you know my thoughts

Have pumped them up to 70psi and will be going no faster than 10mph ;)

studded tyres in England?

in October?

They do vibrate and are very noisy on dry tarmac roads.

They advise that you should ride them in for 40km on dry roads before using them when really needed.

Although if you are riding in certain parts of Scotland tomorrow you may well need them .

ice in Scotland tomorrow?

granted London is heated but I'd expect to bail for ice for a handful of days a year, the odd day on the train when it's freezing cold isn't unwelcome

if there's ice on the roads no-one shouold really be out, studded tyres don't fix that

bollox, try living and riding 240m to 360m above sea level in the middle of nowhere. shot ice for upto 6 weeks per year, sometimes public transport can't get up the hills.

Did my bedding in ride today, know what you mean about the vibration, but wasn't too bad.
The noise is going to take some getting used to, the Mrs sais it sounded like Snap Crackle and Pop

Only bad thing was I lost a lot of the studs on this first ride, will they continue to shed at this rate or will they settle in now?
How about replacements, any one know where to get them?

Think I chose the wrong route really, first few miles were tarmac cycle path, but after that it was an offroad trail, bumpy muddy and probably why I lost so many

Given that the bedding in has to be done on tarmac and is to help seat the studs properly so they don't get ripped out as easily when they hit bumpy and rutted ice & snow, then yes, I think you chose the wrong route, you muppet.
