You'll need to be outside for it to find satellites, of course.

I use endomondo on a HTC Wildfire. It's good that you can join the cyclechat group and take part in challenges. Personally, I like to prop up the table so try to make sure I come last in everything  Haven't used any others so can't compare.

Go to www.endomondo.com and search in members. Or easier still type cyclechat in the search.

Here for rides.
I use a forerunner 305 plus sporttracks software for 'recording' purposes and an etrex vista hcx plus bikehike for on bike navigation/mapping purposes.

old school but very useful and little of the built in obsolescence of the current crop of smart phones. just about to buy a foot pod and a cadence sensor for the 305.

i keep the smartphone for phone calls and texts, and the odd photo.

ok found a problem, my nokia doesnt have gps, doh
thinkin of getting blackberry curve with 3g
Covered that...

I have a BlackBerry for work, I've had them for work for about 5 years now, and they are great for work.

Hateful things for personal use, though. IMO.
Expensive for personal use and much of the benefits of the BB OS are lost for personal use.

Most can be covered by the phrase "BlackBerry Enterprise Server". The way that a BlackBerry device links to a corporate exchange server is fab, push synchronising emails, diary, contacts etc as well as other CRM / ERP products. BlackBerry phones have, from the outset, been designed with BES in the background.

Without BES, though, it's no better (and in many ways worse) than an Android phone which is designed to work as a personal solo device.
