I dont' have a problem with that - but then I don't live in Shetland - it seems odd to imply NI is an island.

When American friends come and visit, they are rather puzzled by our local Black Dyke Road.
I tell them we often name roads in honour of various groups or individuals: Alan Turing Way, Princes Road, Mongomery Road, Nelson Mandela Ave, etc.
They just nod and add it to the long list of things they don't 'get' about the UK.

You should take them on to see Black Butts Lane, Walney Island.

Americans do name some streets after people, and the odd stadium, bridge, airport, quite a lot of cities, and even a few of their states!
