I have seen that several times on a number of different mapping web sites, where the source map isn't aware of the correct way. On bikehike, it's very easy to manually overwrite, by un-ticking on the "Follow roads" at the point of the turn, then drawing a straight line onto the side road, and then clicking back on the "Follow Roads".

Yep you can do that on Garmin Connect as well it's also free to share your routes with people none of this premium members only rubbish.
