Hello All,

this weekend I am getting a Garmin Edge 800, i am wondering what sites people use to create there routes.

If you can let me know will be great.

I tried bike hike but it seems to add extra distance on, for example a road i know well is a normal road however to get to one point to turn i have to go up half a mile and back to turn right, even know it has filtered lights to turn right.

Ridewithgps.com, it's not perfect especially when you want to make changes, but it's the best I've found.

Never had that problem in all the times I use it.

I use gpxeditor mainly and sometimes ridewithgps. They do me fine, but no doubt others are available.

Don't forget you can also use the OSM cycle maps on these devices

gpxeditor.co.uk now has the option of displaying Google map, satellite, streetview, ordnance survey, (OSM) Open Street Map, Open Cycle Map
and of routing using any of Google Driving,Walking,Cycling modes and a couple more useful modes based on OSM.

Garmin connect does everything I need, I've used it to do two coast 2 coast in a day without any drama this year, providing you create the route correctly then it works flawlessly with the 800 and turn by turn directions.

I have seen that several times on a number of different mapping web sites, where the source map isn't aware of the correct way. On bikehike, it's very easy to manually overwrite, by un-ticking on the "Follow roads" at the point of the turn, then drawing a straight line onto the side road, and then clicking back on the "Follow Roads".
