Having done the ride twice before and registering on the day, I just wanted to chck if i can do the same this year?

Also does anybody happen to know where I can find a detailed route guide?

Many Thanks,

Not sure about registering on the day, I registered a while back and start at 8:00.

If anybody knows the route though, please share it!

I don't know if it's possible but I'm hoping to do the same. If I can't I shall chuck the entry fee into the nearest charity collection tin and ride off with the rest. These are public roads so there's no reason not to do this - though I realise it would be chaos if everyone did it.......and I don't expect to get any support if I fall off!

Bike Events never publish a detailed route for their rides, in my experience anyway, but looking on the website it looks much the same as usual. I did understand they had stopped going through Haigh Hall but it appears on the very simple map on their website.

Thank you for the info guys,

Like I said the last 2 times I've done it simply walked over to the registration desk, signed in and handed over £12 (£16 this year) I was issued with a number and was on my way!

Just wonderded if for any reason it was different this year!

Anyway as you correctly pointed out we're using public roads so who's gonna stop you!

And to the Marshall, who said only 2 miles to go... it was more like 6, thanks...

I would have given Cav a run for his money at the finish though!

Got to love riding!

Aye did this today as well for the first time, I thought it was a good ride, the headwind was a killer but I was expecting it having cycled to work (Lytham St Annes) in the build up to this event

Couple of conclusions:-

1) Some of the cyclists were more dangerous than vehicles
2) Must set off earlier next year to avoid ^
3) Must not hang around next year for over an hour and half in total for some of your team that are actually in front of you
4) Must find a Big Bird fancy dress costume for next years outing

I was in Blackpool today watching my team, Widnes Vikings, stuff Barrow Raiders in the Northern Rail Cup Final - GET IN!!

Saw a lot of you guys arriving at Blackpool.
Also, spoke to a few riders in Yate's Wine Lodge and they told me that the head wind in the last few miles was excrutiating - well done to all.

Great Ride today, there and back! Lots of really silly people going through red lights and overtaking on the wrong side of the road. Passed a chap being put into an ambulance on the way there, looked like he had been clipped by a car. He ended up on the wrong side of the road.

Hats off to off everyone who did it, all shapes and sizes!

The ride back seem quicker on the way back, without having to wait around behind large groups of white vans.

Mancheter 100 is the next one for me.

Set off at 7.20 and finished in 3 hours 57 minutes which I'm really pleased with, covering 62.65 miles on my computer. This was my earliest start and it made a huge difference, roads were clear all the way of bikes and cars, so it was a good ride with the added bonus of there being a few more people around to chat with. Until Preston Dock the weather conditions were almost ideal, cool and a slight breeze. From Preston the headwind began to grow and was really tough by the time we hit the Kirkham area. Highlight of the day for me was the way 7 of us just came together to make up a small chain gang all the way in. Each time we picked up a new rider their relief was palpable. The gang just grew naturally which was great.

Haigh Hall had a lot of dirt on the road which was wet from overnight rain. Going through early needed caution so I'd guess it was quite dangerous when it got busy.

Starting early meant I saw very little poor cycling apart from the group of six MTBers following the white coach at a round 3 feet from his rear bumper, then pulling out and overtaking the coach on the wrong side of a traffic island. If the driver had braked none of you could have stopped! The coach was simply hanging back because he couldn't get past a group of perhaps 20 cyclists and he wanted to turn left. The driver did everything right and the MTBers everything wrong! Also saw three or four roadies going through red lights - you should know better!

The route has changed since I last rode it, presumably to accomodate the Promenade finish. I think I preferred the old route as this took in more of the Fylde lanes before finishin in Blackpool.

Did the ride as well and i have to say never again.
The amount of idiots sitting millimetres behind cars and vans was crazy. And with traffic lights on red and at roundabouts groups of 20 people just carrying on expecting cars to stop.Others cycling at 3 or 4 abreast with no consideration for others.

Saw some kid being treated by ambulance staff at the bottom of the hill at haigh hall.
Suprised there was more accidents.

One good point was the weather was fantastic
