I watched the DVD of Man On Wire last night. It's a documentary film about a mad Frenchman's wirewalk between the two towers of the World Trade Center in 1974. Even the photographs were getting my acrophobia going - yikes!

It was a stunning feat. I'm just glad that I never had the urge to do crazy things like that...

The film is 90 minutes long and I thought it was well worth watching.

Wasn't that the guy who didn't get permission and just did it on a sort of whim.

110 floors up and no safety net. Just the wire and him.

Been meaning to see that film.

That's the one...

They didn't have permission. I say 'they' because obviously rigging a wire between two adjacent buildings when you aren't supposed to be doing it takes a lot of planning and several pairs of hands.

Yeah I heard about it (the film).

It got good reviews from what I understand. Will keep an eye out for it in our local Zavvi. Where they are having a sale somewhat.

Can't think why.

I haven't seen the movie but agree about the agrophobia, I get the same feeling when looking at documentary programmes about building some of the new and very high sky scrapers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had to look up the word acrophobia (I remembered that it wasn't vertigo). I do actually suffer from vertigo in high places but it is caused by the acrophobia. What really worries me about being in exposed high places is that I am prone to fainting when very stressed...

Official Man On Wire website - you can see the trailer for the film there.

I spotted the 'deliberate mistake' Keith, but we were already using the correct word and it would have seemed churlish to point out the mistake!
