I have built up my knowledge and my took kit over 50 odd years of finding out how things work. The only think I have never learnt is the black art of truing wheels. I have tried but they usually end up worse than when I start, so wheels go the LBS. Over the last few years component compatibility has raised it's head occasionally but there is always plenty of advice, one just has to ask.
