Lost it, got it again.
These are brand new tyres, done the grand total of 0 miles on them. I got the new tyres after the front wheel went flat over night with the old tyre on and I suspected the cheapo Kenda tyres of being, well, shite.

Daily update:

Front wheel stayed well pumped overnight (new H/fords tube and the still new Conti tyre). Stayed true at 60psi. Awesome, looks like the bulgy Kenda was screwed in some way.

So, I have a go at the back. Wheel off, Conti tyre off, new H/fords tube out. Ah ha, a small, tiny, weenie hole. Patched it. Added some tape to the rim to be on the safe side even though I couldnt see anything on the rim or tyre that caused the prick. Tube back in the tyre, tyre on wheel. Started to pump it, at about 40psi I notice a bulge in the tyre, looks like the tyre might jump off the rim, stop pumping and bend down to look at it....

BANG!

Tube blew. So new H/fords tube in, tyre on and pumped. All looking good now.

finger crossed eh?

Crossing fingers for you. So it appears to have been an unfortunate coincidence that they both weren't holding air.

Look on the bright side: You are learning all about tyres and tyre fitting (puncture repair by the roadside will never be a worry again) !

Agreed - it'll be like an F1 pitstop!

One thing to try in future, I fitted a brand new (schwalbe I think) inner tube and it kept deflating slowly, so inner tube off and washing bowl of water check time. Turned out the valve was not fully screwed home into the tube and was leaking slightly. You'll need a valve key to check this, you can buy them on Ebay which double as a valve cap (ebay sale page NTDWM  )
