I don't spend that much time sitting on the toilet reading.

I just signed up too as it also covers my mother major hobbies of music and motorsport. A veritable bargain

Not sure if our library service is special in this regard, but might be worth you asking at yours before shelling out the cover price, or even the £8.

Doubt any library stocks the number of publications available online, or indeed will let you check mags out to read on a biring nightshift, or take camping etc. But hey ho if £8 breaks your bank then yup sitting in the library is an alternative

It is the digital magazines that the Libraries offer that is attractive, not physical copies. Mine uses Zinio and offers about a hundred different titles for free.

Must hold my hands up and admit the only time I use a library is for free wifi access when we are up in the dales.

I am still impressed by readly though, especially with the diversity of mags on offer, a couple of x-stitch mags swmbo used to buy monthly are on there so thats the subscription covered, beano is £2.50 a week |(ffs) if you have a bairn that reads that then that is a saving on its own!

I think you misunderstand my post.

Unless readly send you paper copies of the magazines you are talking about then the service I am drawing attention to is exactly the same as the one you are talking about (possibly with the exception of the Beano). You are getting yours for the bargain of £8. I am getting mine for the bargain of £0. I thought if anyone reading this thread was interested in following your tip about readly they might like to enquire of their local library first to see if they can get all this for free already through their membership number.

You don't have to 'borrow' the internet from the library (even taking into account your CC name I'm sure you realise this), it's everywhere these days. So sitting in the library or checking items out doesn't factor into it at all.

Cheers.

I am a 54 year old bairn and I would rather read the Beano than any of the cycling mags referred to in the OP..
I used to buy Cycling Active, but after a few issues they all become very predictable and same-ish. Product reviews on over priced kit, over priced bikes, over priced tours, which helmet, which disgusting energy bar, etc.. Not much of practical use to your normal every day cyclist IMO.. They seem hell bent on making cycling an elitist sport (a la golf, unsurprisingly), when most of us can see through all the nonsense and realise that all you need is a bike and somewhere to ride it.

Yep. I do still enjoy some of Cyclist's route-based content. And Boneshaker is good when I can find it. The rest are identikit bobbins, low on scientific or objective content and high on pandering to the brands that send them free stuff month after month.

Just taken a look, it would appear that our library is closing and is going online, wonder if they will burn the books as well:thumbsdown: No sign of magazines available though that I can see.

Motorbike mags are exactly the same; I stopped buying them years ago but still read the occasional one in the dentist/doctor waiting room.
I find the best source of information on any practical cycling matters is - by a country mile - this very forum; and it's free!
