Thinking I may purchase bike mag, just wondering what people rate as the best bike mag out at the moment that covers mainly road bikes general info and maintenance.

I like (and subscribe) to Cycling Active as it caters for all types of cyclist and bike  Cover price is £4 and there is plenty in it, so good vfm too imo. Just have a shifty in Smiths and see which you like most I'd say

As long as I breathe, I attack.
I subscribed to cycling plus for the free windproof + hat that costs more than the magazine sub for the year, otherwise i would not buy it as it is aimed more at the sportive market and rarely reviews equipment aimed at the lower end of the market, last wheel review started at £400 for a set etc and their bike of the year review started at around £1000 ..

I pick up cycling active occasionally , finding it a more rounded magazine and i will at some point change subs , whats the offer for subscribing atm?

Everybody will have a different opinion as to what magazine is good or bad.
Best you get yourself down to Smiths and have a gander at a few.

Buggered him up completely though, he was only 25 stone at the beginning :-)

Cycling Active for me, at least it seems to be in-touch with the everyday person's budget. I sometimes read another that somebody brings in to work, not sure if it is Cycling plus. Whatever it is the prices of the majority of things reviewed just seems phenomenal for a pleb like me anyway.

I'd argue too that Cycling Active is probably the best all round at the moment; I find a lot of their journalism rather trivial though - stuff like their recent article comparing cups of coffee.

My all time favourite mag was (IIRC) called "New Cyclist". Showing my age here because I see it ran from 1998-1993.

I must re-subscribe to Velo Vision some time - I like reading about the quirkier side of cycling.
