Lycra alternative?

I seen a nice pair of Muddy Fox MTB shorts...they looked really comfy!! All padded, but long and loose and waterproof!

Think they might be the ones my fiancé has he says they are very comfy and they have stood up to him bombing round a very muddy mountain bike trail!

At this time of the year, lycra and a windproof suit or rain suit would be ok. I like lycra, even on a touring bike because it is comfortable.

I bought some Muddyfox padded capri cycling shorts (the stretchy ones) and they've gone bobbly within a few months. If these are different material they should be OK, but I don't think I would buy similar shorts to the ones I have again
