In between here and there
You see those two examples are a good reason to ignore most food suggestion on here, I am no where near being a picky eater but neither of those would get anywhere near my lunch box!

Good luck with lunch today, whatever you do try and spead the caloire intake over the whole day!

Just tried the Bombay mix

Was really bland, like cardboard , not impressed - didn't like it but had enough to make sure it was an informed opinion

Glad I did it and didn't freak out

Okay, here's one you could try - baked sweet potato!

Some people find these too sweet, but give them a go. Just scrub the skin clean and bake in an oven until you can stick a knife all the way in without any firmness getting in the way. They start off hard inside but when fully baked they are soft right through and an even texture (I know that texture is one of the things that worries you). I eat the skins as well, but you could just scoop out the centres. They are very nutritious.

I like to have black pepper, olive oil and soy sauce on mine but you might prefer to skip that. There are all sorts of spicy sauces you could use if you wanted to fire them up a bit.

Don't write the Bombay mix off just yet though Gaz. Just like the fresh fruit, there is various brands and types; check out the Asian mini-marts perhaps.
