The Sirrus have a really long stem, I had to change it on my 2010 model as I had the same issue (the bike was too big as well). Not sure if need to do on my smaller 2011 model.

Go to your LBS and get them to check reach, saddle position etc

Buy Robin McKenzie's 'Treat Your Own Back'. Follow the instructions and most of us will be fine. You might need an osteopath session (£40) to release the existing tension.

I find that my Hurricane recumebnt doesnt give me as much back/hamstring pain as any of my uprights, except perhaps my old 4 speed Raleigh All Steel. Does anyone know whether there is anything in this ? ie Are recumbents better for your back and hamstrings ( I am 54, have had back problems and tight hamstrings for about 25 years and find that the only bike which does not upset my back is a recumbent, I have about 10 upright bikes which I ride often, the thing about a recumebnt is that more or less you can slide yourself up or down in the seat at will so I feel it isnt only down to 'fit' ) I agree with CloinJ though about spinning.
