@Bungle88 the Perks that biggs682 is offering you has the highly regarded Campagnolo stuff on it and is quite a few steps up from the B'twin or Carrera and you'll maybe never come across another, if that matters.
The Raleigh is quite a sort after vintage model. Despite being older they can carry on for years if looked after so don't be put off by the age. I have two bikes from the same era and they are just enjoyable to ride as my two year old Specialized.

The last two bike I have purchased were second hand and I have picked up 4 in total for my step sons. Ask as much as possible about the history of the bike. There seem to be so many people out there who buy a bike use it once or twice and it then languishes in the back of the shed or garage. As long as it has been stored in relatively dry conditions it should be fine. The last bike I picked up was a Claud Butler legend hybrid. It had been ridden only twice carefully garaged. Ok so it wasn't state of the art but perfectly functional and only cost £50. Given the cost of replacement parts, I would tend to avoid anything that may require substantial rebuilding, unless of course you have a stash of salvaged parts which will do the job.

Talking of Gumtree, you don't see too many like this. Not sure how this would happen?

"For breaking"

It's already broken

Also, £60? Has it got a £50 note sellotaped to it?

I don't know what Reynolds tubing it is but they do some very lightweight steel tubing for performance frames and it could be one of those. Same as Columbus tubing some of the light weight steel frames made with it are seriously weak and short life. I'd be tempted to buy such a bike with very decent classic components and fit them to a more robust classic frame.

Saying that I remember many years ago my friends Raleigh Chopper falling apart on him as we went up a slight hill. My Chopper was much abused, bent and I was twice his weight and no problems. His was carefully looked after but the frame just broke apart. Hilarious at the time (for me).
