Shook off four day heavy cold at lunchtime and headed off for a quick (ish) 25 miler incorporating a lap of Richmond Park, which I noticed (despite being a happily married man, obviously) had a higher percentage of female riders than I´d ever seen before. Most encouraging!
I also got a bug in the eye and one in the mouth. Spring is in the air!

Though I was in a rush when I went out today, the glimpse of sunshine encouraged me to ditch the car for my bike......... only for me to discover I had a p*ncture. Back to the car then. Ah well, there's a promise of some more sun next week.

I popped to the supermarket for cakes on my way home from work and there was a mountain bike with a completely flat back tyre... I did wonder about pumping it up for them .. but decided I was more likely to be accused of tampering with their bike - it didn't look well looked after, and I wanted to get home to the kids as I was grabbing some bread for lunch and it was already 1:30.

Drove to work, as I needed to pop up to Decathlon (not bike related) after work. So missed the best day of cycling so far this year. Oh, well, there will be others.

You need a spare tube , levers and pump and you´ll be fine. I bought a V shaped tyre lever contraprion for pulling the last bit of tyre over the rim. It´s excellent but I can´t find it on the net. Anyone know the device I´m talking about?

Cycled the long way round to the gym ,went to swim and cycled home about 11 miles with some hills.

Speaking of punctures I caught up to a guy who was pushing beacuse he had a puncture and while I had inner tube and punc repair kit with me am still not really sure what to do with them ( probably should not admit it on this forum eh ! ) so I was unable to help .

My strategy thus far has been to cycle with people who do know what to do , or if on my own panic or cry neither of which are good strategies I know .

I really need to figure it out! I think some councils offer classes?

Also lots more pot holes than last summer they seem to have multiplied and some of them are blooming massive .

Enjoyed the sunshine.

It's half-term for me, so having been watching the forecast, had planned a nice long solo ride - so ended up doing 71 miles up to Taunton and back across the Blackdown Hills. Apart from a somewhat stronger in-the-face wind all the way home (and so very tired legs today), it was lovely.

I had all of those, just not the time to do it - it takes me an age to do as I'm particularly hopeless at getting the tyre back on the rim! It's fixed now so I'm ready to go again, and the sun is shining too, pity I feel rubbish today so won't be taking advantage of it. I will get the chance to do so over the weekend though.

I was the same to start with, but took the advice someone posted on here of practicing at home a couple of times. Now I swap the inner tube when out, and repair at home. Check out bicycletutor.com for videos on how to do it:

That´s where you need this neat tyre lever V shaped thing. You push one end onto the rim, the other end goes round the tyre bead, you pull andn the tyre pops back on to the wheel - easy!

I ditched the winter gear and wore my spring outfit today, summer cruiser tights and just the one base layer with a gilet.
No sun here and I think it's meant to rain soon. good job I've done my bit already

I was out for a pootle yesterday it was good to be able to leave the overshoes at home & show a little leg for a change. I did most of Tamworth CC's National forest 50k route in reverse + a hilly diversion due to a road closure that apparently I would have been able to get through, no worries as I wanted a couple of extra miles anyway. Stats: 32.74 miles, 2hrs 31secs @ 16.2mph. Shameless Tamworth CC audax plug below
