I don't think it was meant as a joke as the tone in which he said it was quite sharp.

As for joining a club and doing races, it's on the plan. I still want to drop some more weight first (down from 18.5st to 14.5 now, aiming for 13st) before doing competitions. On the flat I can quite happily do 25+mph all day long, it's on the hills where I tend to suffer due to the extra weight I'm carrying, but it is getting better with every pound lost

i never take ofence or intend to give any when passing being passed or makeing comments, im sure some take life far to seriously, i take with a pince or salt the speeds qouted crusing at 22mph? thats a 25 min ten ish? i can do that now but im working as hard as i can and feel sick after?

Dont be too critical of yourself re the hills, you seem to have flown up it in your example, even maintaining the same pace...you must be going well.
