I was in Evans cycles recently and noticed that they're doing a £20 trade in on LG clothes.

As my old bib-shorts are on their last legs and I could do with replacing some other kit, I was tempted, but have never owned any LG gear. Does anyone have any experience of their stuff?

I'm trying out some new lg 3/4 length shorts this morning. They feel comfortable enough at the moment. I'll let you know how I get on with them.

LG have a bit of an Evans own brand stigma as Evans are the sole UK stockist, however this is not the case, they are NOT an Evans own brand, they are a very big brand in the triathlon world and produce some of the highest performing kit available, especially when it comes to helmets and aero kit etc. I use an LG road helmet, looks like a normal road helmet with loads of ventilation and reasonably lightweight, yet it has been tested by LG and verified by several independent testers as to be more aero than a Giro Air Attack aero helmet and on par with the S-Works Evade! They are a smart company that make quality products, I can not wait for them to release their new full aero helmet (the P-09) over here!

Come to think of it, my gloves of choice are LG Zero Cal, been using them for so long the logo's are gone, but they are great minimalist gloves.

I only have LG helmet and gloves and will happily vouch for both of them- can't go wrong! especially as Evans knock down previous seasons kit quite a bit (probably won't apply to your offer but worth keeping an eye out).

Got some LG mitts, which are absolutely excellent. They could do with some pull-tabs to help get them off, but very comfy things to ride in.

My LG pro-carbon shoes are great, really well fitting and comfy and were almost half price due to being ex-display.

There was some rather shonky stitching on the straps, so Evans offered me a refund of the purchase price, but seeing as they were so heavily discounted in the first place I decided to just repair them myself with a dab of fabric glue.

LG make great quality kit and price it well, and the dude who started it up (or at least puts his name to it), had a touch of the queen! This may not seem like a big deal, but apparently it's a massive breach of royal protocol. Chapeau!

I haven't tested the claims yet, but will eventually do some field testing on a still day or on a velodrome. It is good as a normal road helmet though, if it is even only marginally as aero as they say, then that is a bonus.

LG claim* 2 min 40 sec over a normal road helmet and 1 min 58 sec over a competitors aero road helmet over a 40km (that's 25 miles) time trial.

*The tests were carried out in the 2 m X 3 m low speed wind tunnel at the CNRC in
Ottawa. All the helmets were tested under the same conditions, i.e. on a half-body
mannequin on a LG Gennix T1 bike with standard wheels. The data takes into account
the bike, the mannequin as well as the fastener system of the mannequin on the bike.

A bit optimistic (or compared to some of the worse offerings I suspect) most likely, however the S-Works Evade offers a 46 second saving over 40km and ERO Sports (independent tester) suggest that the LG and S-Works helmets have both tested similarly. They also say in most cases the LG Course has tested 2-3% better than the Giro Air Attack and never worse in their testing. The limitation in this testing is that it was all done at low yaw, I think if the Course will suffer, it will be at high yaw, but no data to confirm.
