Have you considered a 2nd hand used hybrid..may get more for your money..Where in the country are you as may have something?

Problem with that is that I really don't know what I am buying and how much it is worth.. I am over in birmingham

Years and years back, I wanted a bike, did lots of research, made my shortlist, went to a good local bike shop and tried some. And the Dawes Discovery (not on my researched short list!) fitted ... like a glove. It just "felt right", and had all the bits I wanted (like adding pannier racks, front and back). Still riding it more than 10 years later.

Would definitely agree with growingvegetables...might be worth going in and having a test ride of a few bikes before you buy. You'll get that 'feels right' with one of them. If not go for the one that you think looks the best. I know that sounds daft but for me it just feels better if I think the bike looks awesome and many companies are so competitive that you'll be getting a decent bike if you get a trusted name (I know many people will disagree with that but it's just personal opinion!).
Fwiw I ride a Specialized Sirrus and love it if you haven't totally disregarded it by now.

Assuming you are buying from Evans (due to the Pinnacle in your list), ask for a test ride of the bikes
