I am getting sore feet, likely issues with cleat position but feet also getting very hot and swollen in this weather. I have dhb socks with coolmax which are the worst, endura with coolmax which are a bit better and some old btwin ones which are best but am nowhere near decathlon and doubt they do now. Recommendations? Will go to a tenner a pair for super socks! Size 43 feet, but wide. Quite chunky ankles!

Have a look at the Merino socks at Pedal Revolution. They are rather lovely, so I am told by a local lady cyclist.

Cool, thanks. Didn't think of merino. The nylon ones are good for wicking but not foot health  I think the decathlon ones have cotton in which is why they are nicer

I am hoping they are as nice as my DeFeet Woolie Boolies are only cooler.

I just looked at some like that in the LBS, seemed very thick? The Castelli ones felt horrid, more nylony than some £2 Lidl jobs I have and £12 a pair!

I think I shall need to look at the 'ingredients'! Something with cotton would be best for me

I have 3 pairs of the Endura Coolmax ones and I hate them, tried to wear them one and are sized in such a way that they just feel too big and the seams are all in the wrong places :headshake:

My favourite pair of summer socks are a pair I got for free from the front of a cycling magazine, they are black with Scott written on them and I wear them most of the time I am out on my bike in summer.

I have those Scott ones too! They're not bad but still too warm

Can you get silk cycling socks, think I need something quite thin

Then my feet would sweat and get pongy - and my shoes would rub

It's only in these >20deg temps that I am having noticeable issues

Well I have tried on the DeFeet socks I just got and they are probably a bit thicker that the Scotts in places, they are also low top ones which I don't much like but I will give them a go comedy tan lines and all.

I don't think merino socks would be thinner I have a pair of merino socks and they are more like winter socks and they are supposed to be liners

I've had the Endura coolmax, very thin I thought.
My favourite currently are the Aldi summer ones, probably too thick for you though Vickster.

Considering I seem to wear my winter boots for 9 months of the year the summer socks don't get much use ^_^

What about these:

The DeFeet Levitator Lite socks, as the name suggests, are a lightweight option for the summer weather, helping to keep your feet cool when the temperature is high.
These are single thickness throughout, including the cuff section that lets a little more air through than a double-layer alternative. The upper section of the foot is quite an open weave so it's highly breathable and there's a lot of elasticity around the arch to keep the sock in place. The toe seam sits on the underside rather than on top of the foot, but I didn't feel it at all in use.
The Levitator Lites are made from 51 percent nylon with 47 percent Coolmax Eco-made and 2 percent Lycra. That lot shifts sweat well so your feet stay pretty fresh-feeling even when you're riding hard in hot summer conditions.
Verdict

Lightweight socks that keep your feet feeling cool in hot weather.
