...my Alex Rim CTD double wall 622 × 17; 6061-T6 700

Currently I have some borough semi slicks on them and think total slicks would be a little better.

Anyone got any advice as I am a little thick on tyres.

Also - do I need new tubes to go with my new tyres.
cheers for any advice folks

Well, if the rim width is 17 mm, then any 700C tyre that's 26mm - 42mm should fit perfectly.
Something like a 28mm Conti GatorSkin will be noticably quicker, and is still pretty resistant to visitations.
The existing tubes will probably fit, but new tubes are hardly expensive anyhow.

The Boroughs are pretty slick in the middle, I've left them on for 1,800 miles in the hope that they'd wear out for me to stick some Marathon Plus rubber on there. They don't look touched yet, though.
