Has anyone done the Glasgow to the Falkirk wheel trip. I think it's about 35 miles each way.
I fancied it this year and never got round to it.

Done it this year, nice run and decent paths. Cycled on up to Edinburgh and was really disappointed by the condition of that part of the route (overgorwn, glass, etc).

The other good thing about the Glasgow - Falkirk section is a few nice looking canalside pubs to stop at and then having the attraction of the Falkirk wheel at the end!

Also there's meant to be a good cycling path at the new Wind turbine farm at the back of EK. Not been up there yet but one of my colleagues says its a good run.

Went up in the car at the weekend, looks like it will be really good for some light trail stuff. Kind of scary walking under those giant turbine blades though:ohmy:.

Saw a good few people on bikes and a couple of horses as well. Plan on going up next weekend and spending some time doing the trail.

Did the Glasgow to Edinburgh, Tour De Canal, towpath in early May this year and have to agree that the Glasgow to Falkirk part is the best bit and that Falkirk to Edinburgh the path is very narrow and overgrown in areas, although it does go through my village and although there are only a couple of pubs on the canal itself there is a good chance to stop at Linlithgow and go down to the Four Marys on the High Street.

One you get past Uddingston there are nice tracks along the side of the Clyde to Bothwell. At Bothwell bridge there's a path that goes down to Strathclyde park.
Cheers that's somewhere I'll need to try having a look at, don't think I'd get as far as the Falls of Clyde. Unfortunately, I'm pretty good at getting lost; I've only went as far as Uddingston once (I usually turn off the cycle path at Carmyle) and I lost the route. I bought the sustrans clyde to forth route map but I'm not sure it'll be a great help to me!

So far I've only went from Clydebank to Bishopbriggs but once I sort out exactly where to access the canal from Kirkintilloch, this is probably the next route I want to try. Glad to hear there are some pubs on the way along, I'm always looking for somewhere to use the loo!
